I'm not gonna talk about brand I don't know but worth to mention it doesn't have heatsink which is must have for console use.

I read about it a while ago and the conclusion of the analysis performed on TomHardware hardly indicated it was a must have. Here you go:

I wonder why there's such a popular belief that the heatsink is a must have. Is there an article somewhere? (edited)

Dunno why anyone would buy an unbranded generic drive when there's Verbayim, Kioxia, Adata, and Kingston 1TB gen4 drives all for around this same price.

fanxiang is hardly 'unbranded', they've been around a while now. Though they are just rebadged 'BiWin' drives, like many other brands out there (Integral, Netac, Acer, etc. Even ADATA drives that you mention come off the same BiWin production line as fanxiang drives).

I've stuck a few fanxiang drives in builds in the last year or so and all of them have been flawless. (edited)

I'd avoid something like this personally. Unbranded, no heatsink and below the recommend speed

fanxiang have been around a while now, they're as much of a brand as Netac, Integral, ADATA, ACER, and others (they all come off the same BiWin production line).

If you buy a HP PC/laptop it'll have a BiWin SSD in it.

As for the speed, it's been proven multiple times that even the slowest gen4 drives load games at pretty much the same speed as the fastest gen4 drives.
That's because game loading/scene changes relies on IOPS/random read speeds for more than it does max bandwidth, and the difference in random read speads between budget to high end drives is far less than most people would think (even when there is a huge difference in IOPS specs).

For the heatsink, a £6-7 Amazon jobby is more than capable of cooling drives in a PS5 (they only just get hot enough to require a heatsink. (edited)

Just noticed this is a QLC NAND drive.
Really no point buying this over the cheaper but superior S660 (TLC NAND but DRAM-less) or the slightly more expensive S770 (TLC NAND with DRAM).
Both also come with heatsinks, andypearce posted the S770 deal here -

Just for anyone reading i used these in our work laptops (if anyone needs a drive capacity upgrade) i reckon ive bought about 30+ of these in 1 and 2TB sizes and non have failed and our users have a habit of never ever shutting their laptops down....in summary - i think theyre really good...just ordered 4 more for the office.

Wow, you're brave running these in an enterprise environment... I hope you're backing up your users data!

Glad they are working out for you!

it's a horrible idea to save money on storage and use unknown brands.

Why is that? Especially for PS5, you won't actually lose any data if it fails.

More importantly others have noted it's not an unknown brand - I've never heard of them though
