    Open, never used should mean never registered with Apple, so the 12 month Apple warranty isn't activated.

    If the apple warranty is activated, it's Refurb / Used.

    Would be interesting to see what these are.

    Had multiple phones, all ok bar the most recent (they’d swapped an iPhone screen for an OEM one, sold as brand new-Open Box and refused a refund - I ended up claiming through credit card).

    looked mint and had full battery but had a third party screen and even warnings in iPhone settings

    It says opened, never used.
    It most likely a customer return under 14 day cooling off period. Might have very minor marks but as close to new without being new. (edited)
